Given its subject matter – women dealing with struggles related to children – Mother and Child is undeniably affecting. It is also, unfortunately, rather scattershot in tone, pacing and structure, as director Rodrigo Garcia struggles to balance his three primary stories.
Sorry the dvd cover and this film credits clearly show that it is starring in the order of Naomi Watts, Annette Bening and Kerry Washington. Why did you alter it by slighting Watts to after Bening?
ReplyDeleteNo disrespect intended towards Naomi Watts, who gave a very strong performance in Mother and Child. However, there seems to be less overall emphasis on her character here compared to Annette Bening's character, especially in the latter portion of the story. This is among the issues I had with the overall structure and pacing of the film.
